Research

Wim studied Work & Organizational psychology at the University of Amsterdam. After his graduation he continued to work at the department for several years. There he did research on the well-being of employees in companies. Currently he is researching the relationship between mental fitness and performance.

Management

After his university affiliation, Wim stepped into practice at the Arbo Groep, where the topic of 'sick leave' was central. Wim soon became manager of the advisory division of the national occupational health and safety service. He gained experience in managing professionals (psychologists, safety experts, ergonomists, and occupational physiotherapists), both substantively and commercially.

Consultancy

On April 1, 1999 Wim started his own consultancy firm: Keizer Performance "I have coached top athletes for years as a rowing coach and later as a sports psychologist VSPN®, so think I know everything about what it takes to perform when you really have to."Consultancy, the forerunner of Praan Group. He advised companies in the field of absence management, conflict management and coaching of professionals in dealing with stress and achieving goals.

Sportscoach

Wim has also always been active as a rowing coach. He has coached many teams at important competitions, including the World Championships.

Sports psychologist

When starting his consulting business, Wim combined psychology with his sports coaching experiences. As a mental coach he has now coached Olympians (rowers, swimmers, skaters...) and professional athletes (basketball, Ajax). "I have coached top athletes for years as a rowing coach and later as a sports psychologist VSPN®, so think I know everything about what it takes to perform when you really have to." With the Skerpe Jeugd project, Wim also focuses explicitly on young athletes. Practicing sport is important for the development of young people.

Military performance psychologist

From April 2020 to April 2023 Wim has been hired (part-time) by the Royal Netherlands Army to lead the program 'performing under pressure'. How is pressure experienced when circumstances are not at all predictable and life is at stake? Then the automated application of mental skills is vital. The control over thoughts, feelings and emotions make it possible to perform the learned routines and techniques professionally. The challenge in the project lies in translating sport and performance psychology concepts to the military context of training and the military operations on the ground.

Lecturer

Wim also works part-time at the Universtity of Applied Sciences Amsterdam to teach the Sports course in the field of sports psychology and to supervise student’s thesis projects. Wim is also active in several coach training programs (coach 4 of KNRB and coach 5 of NOC/NSF).
